Architecture should make our lives better and buildings should give back to their surroundings. Because once a building is built, it's not going anywhere for decades to come. Ane Cortzen explores how, in this day and age, we still end up with architecture that goes wrong when she asks if there was an architect present.

Over the course of a year and a half, DR has followed two of the most extensive projects of recent times: the restoration of the Hermitage Palace and the Chancellery. The series 'The legacy of the kings' focuses on the special craftsmanship that is needed to restore the buildings' inner and outer splendor.

In this series, we travel back in time and delve into past visions of the future. What hit the mark, and what went entirely wrong? And what do the dreams of the future reveal about the time in which they were created?
