وُلدت "روبي" في أسرة صماء هي الوحيدة التي تسمع بينهم. وعندما تكتشف أنها شغوفة بالغناء، تجد نفسها مضطرة إلى الاختيار بين التزاماتها العائلية أو السعي إلى تحقيق أحلامها.

بعد انتهاء أحداث الجزء اﻷول ونجاح مسابقة الغناء، يجب على باستر مون وأصدقاؤه إقناع نجم موسيقى الروك المنعزل كلاي كالواي بالانضمام إليهم في افتتاح عرض جديد.

يمتلك الكوالا (باستر موون) مسرحًا يمر معه بأوقات عصيبة وأزمة مالية كبيرة قد تهدد بإغلاقه، لكنه عازم على إعادة الحياة لمسرحه مرة أخرى بأية طريقة، وتصير أمامه فرصة أخيرة، وهى أن يتجه لتنظيم مسابقة غنائية كبيرة داخل المسرح لجذب أنظار واهتمام الجمهور بالمسرح من جديد.

يدور العمل حول فتى شاب يمر بالعديد من الصعاب في حياته، ويجد الخلاص من خلال علاقته مع الكلاب.

وفقًا لعادات وتقاليد طيور البطريق بالقارة القطبية الجنوبية، يُعبر كل طائرٍ لحببيته عن عشقه وحبه لها بالغناء، لكن البطريق (ماميل) لا يستطيع الغناء وبالتالي يفشل في العثور على حببيته؛ بالرغم من امتلاكه لموهبةٍ عظيمةٍ هي موهبة الرقص، يحاول ماميل إقناع العديد بتغيير تلك العادات، في الوقت ذاته تُلقي قيادة القرية اللوم على ماميل لاستخدامه الرقص بالنقر، يحاول ماميل أن يقنعهم بغير ذلك ويطلب من أصدقائه مساعدته في إثبات هذا.

تدور أحداث الفيلم، بعد أحداث فيلم "الانجراف القاري"، في رحلة سكرات الملحمية وراء بلوطته المراوغة، حيث يُطلق العنان لسلسلة من الأحداث الكونية التي تُغير الكوكب وتُهدده. لإنقاذ أنفسهم من الخطر، يغادر ماني وسيد ودييغو وبقية القطيع موطنهم وينطلقون في رحلة مليئة بالإثارة والتشويق، مليئة بالنجاحات والإخفاقات، مليئة بالضحك والمغامرة، في رحلة إلى أراضٍ ومواقع جديدة وغريبة.
