قصة حقيقة وقعت احداثها عام 1979 عندما قام أحد موظفي وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية بعملية إنقاذ 6 دبلوماسيين تم اختطافهما أثناء الثورة الإيرانية محاولا إتمام مهمته بأقل الخسائر وفي سلام.

تدور أحداث الفيلم حول تريس (شايلين ودلي)، الشابة التي ولدت مختلفة عن سائر المحيطين بها، حيث لم تجد نفسها متلائمة مع أيًا من الفصائل الخمسة الموجودة حولها، مما يعرضها لخطر الموت، حيث تعود من جديد في هذا الجزء برفقة زملائها من أجل مواجهةالأخطار المحتملة من التحالف القوي بين المجتمعات المختلفة، وتسعى إلى مواصلة معركتها من أجل حماية جماعتها.
