Jamila is the daughter of a wealthy businessman. She is married to Khanlar, the son of her father's business partner. But soon he shows his real face after the death of Jamila's father and makes her life hell. Unable to bear this pain, Jamila decides to run away from home.
Mrs. Leyli intends to marry a younger person. But since that person is already married and hides it at the first meeting, their love does not happen.
Adil continues his journey in cinema, with two timelines depicting different stages of his life. In the present, he struggles to save Leyla’s unborn child from being aborted, while the second timeline explores a key event from his past.

Throughout the film, the characters have to make a choice: either keep everything as it is and return to their lives or start a new relationship with "their kind of man", and this is what each of them has always secretly dreamt.
"Dalan" is a film that tells about dead-end life situations that anyone can get into. In the film, several intertwined stories are built around the main plot line - the betrayal of a young wife to her despotic husband.

Buta's grandmother, in the meantime, is weaving a special carpet in memory of Buta's mother. The carpet features a special pattern (also called "Buta"), which represents love. The boy is inspired by his grandmother's work, and decides to make his own "buta" made of rocks and stones, high on the top of the mountain...
Childhood friends Ahmet and Nuri, the sons of poor farmers, grew up together, studied together, and worked together in a factory. Together, they publish the magazine Light, which opposes the colonial policies of foreign capital and military pacts. After their first imprisonment, the friends' paths diverge: Nuri betrays his convictions and joins a reactionary newspaper. His life is now safe, but he finds no joy or peace. Meanwhile, Ahmet, having become one of the main enemies of the reactionaries, attracts more and more patriots to his side.
