Senior citizens Hófí and Pétur feel discarded by a system that has no use for them. They're tired of living in a poorly retirement home and plan to rob a bank to finally buy a place for themselves. Standing in their way are both hardened criminals and inept cops, but these are the most sly seniors around and they're going to show everyone that you can still teach and old dog new tricks...
Jan Mayen is a narrow island, 50 km long, northeast of Iceland. It belongs to Norway which has a weather- and military station situated there. The island is uninhabited but still has remains of the whaling and fox hunting that once took place there. Birdlife is abundant and a very beautiful stratovolcano, Beerenberg (2200m) crowns the island. The volcano is active, last eruptions occurring in 1970 and 1984.
This is a documentary about the people living in barracks in Reykjavik from the year 1940 till 1970. This is an important chapter in Reykjavik history and for the national as whole. The Icelandic community turned from the farm life to a urban city in a very short period of time and these barrack communities were an example about this tremendous growth in the city. Here we see the barracks put in a perspective as a historic event that depicts the various livelihood of people in the growing city. We follow people that actually lived in these barracks and hear what they have to say and experienced in these times.

Two brothers disagree about their mother heritage. The older brother has a lot of children but no money, he is living in his mothers house in a small sea village with his wife and four children. The younger brother has no children but a lot of money. He is living in the city with his unsatisfied wife who desparetly wants a child but cannot. When the older brother wife unexpectly gets pregnant it appears like the perfect solution. The younger brother brings the older one a proposal to adopt the unborn child but instead the older brother can keep the heritage. The older brother and his wife accepts the proposal. When their youngest daughter discovers this she gets very disappointed and makes an effort to destroy the agreement. Soon she finds out that she is not alone in her actions, her newly dead grandmother is still around, ready to help her.
Brynhildur is excited; the 12-year-old has a good chance of getting a solo part in the choir for her class Christmas concert. If only it weren’t for Silja, who is making Brynhildur’s life difficult with her bullying. Even though Brynhildur hasn’t done a thing to provoke Silja. It’s not until she gets up the courage to talk to her father about it that Brynhildur begins to understand what’s behind Silja’s behaviour. At her father’s suggestion, Brynhildur invites the entire class to her birthday party. She sees it as a possible way to win sympathy from Silja and become friends with her. But the plan appears to fail – Silja organises a competing party!
