Pronásledovaný neúspěšnou spisovatelskou kariérou svého otce je rozhodnutý vystoupat až na samotný vrchol nejprestižnější hudební konzervatoře. Jednoho večera na Andrewa, který právě cvičí na bicí, narazí Terence Fletcher, dirigent, proslavený svým učitelským talentem ve stejné míře jako svými nemilosrdnými praktikami.
