Bílý tesák se po smrti svého přítele, indiánského chlapce Mitsaha, seznamuje s malým Billem Tarwaterem a společně s ostatními opět musí čelit intrikám a zločinným úmyslům proradného Smithe a jeho kumpánů.

Svoboda, příroda, nespoutanost, soužití člověka s přírodou, takto se dá charakterizovat život Indiánů. Vraťme se teď do roku 1607, kdy začínají připlouvat lodě do Nového světa. Evropě se tak otevírá nový kontinent, který skýtá řadu bohatství, čehož se dá využít. Bohatství tohoto kontinentu zaujalo především chamtivého guvernéra společnosti Virginia Johna Ragcliffa. S guvernérem připlouvá do Ameriky také mladý, pohledný kapitán John Smith. Tato země ale není pustá. Žijí v ní Indiáni, kteří milují přírodu a svoji svobodu. Jednou z nich je také krásná Pocahontas, kterou čeká svatba s mužem, kterého jí vybral její otec. Velkou rádkyní Pocahontas je vrba, která vypadá jako babička. Ve vrbě sídlí duch, který jí vždy poradí.

Dva nevlastní bratři, okouzlující, ale amorální a prohnilý až na kost Jesse Smith (Richard Harrison) a mírný a čestný mormon Lester O'Hara (Donald O'Brien), se spojí, aby získali dědictví po své matce. Nebude to však procházka růžovým sadem, protože na cestě je čekají nejrůznější komplikace...

Na dva tulácké smolaře (Humphrey Bogart a Tim Holt) a mrzutého zlatokopa (Walter Huston) se usměje štěstí a objeví zlato. Ovládne je chamtivost, která zcela pomate jejich mysl. Film získal dva Oscary, za režii a scénář. Bogart sice nedostal žádnou cenu, ale jeho výkon ve filmu je oceňován dodnes. Film neztratil nic ze své působivosti a o půl století později byl Americkým filmovým institutem vybrán mezi 100 nejlepších amerických filmů všech dob.

Po vyloupení banky ve zlatokopeckém městečku si parta psanců uvědomí, že je někdo podvedl. A do toho se po jejich stopách pustí neúnavný šerif.

Šéf výpravy, pán Bludgeon, dostane ďábelský nápad - nechá bizony jednoduše vystřílet, aby indiáni neměli co jíst a museli odtáhnout jinam. Když indiáni najdou pozabíjené bizony, rozhodnou se z pomsty přepadnout vlak. Proti dobře vyzbrojeným bělochům však mají jen velmi malou šanci. V noci se jim ale podaří aspoň ukrást pušky a munici. Bludgeon zuřivě pátrá po zlatě a neštítí se ani vraždy. V přestřelce zabije Chata a těžce zraní Pata. Náčelníci se poradí a rozhodnou se jednat s bělochy o míru. Jen Bystrooký Sokol zásadně nesouhlasí a chce s bílými dobyvateli bojovat a vyhnat je z jejich území Dakotů...

V době zlaté horečky se tulák Charlie, stejně jako tisíce dalších mužů, vydává na Aljašku k cestě za zbohatnutím. Ve sněhové vánici narazí na dřevěnou boudu, kde se rozhodne ukrýt. Uvnitř se shledá krom psa také s podivným chlapíkem, který jej s puškou v ruce odmítá přijmout a hladového zlatokopa Big Jima. Zanedlouho se jejich cesty rozdělí.
