Výborný americký thriller z prostředí surfařské komunity v Californii se skutečně vynikající atmosférou a napínavým dějem. Klasické schéma infiltrace agenta do struktury nějaké proti systému stojící organizace se v tomhle případě režisérce Kathryn Bigelow podařilo naroubovat na příběh oslavující surfing a životní styl i hodnoty s ním spojené a vznikl překvapivě nosný dramatický oblouk. Film navíc překvapivě nezestárl a působí i po letech velice nadčasově, což u podobných snímků nebývá zvykem. Surfing je tu prezentován jako alternativní životní styl kritizující hodnoty konzumní společnosti. Kathryn Bigelow se velice povedl casting - sázka na zatím celkem neokoukaného Keanu Reevese vyšla bezezbytku a odvaha svěřit roli charismatického záporáka profláklé tváři hvězdy romantických filmů Patricku Swayzemu taktéž (jeho jednoznačně nejlepší role). Bod zlomu je skutečně vydařený akční thriller a jeden z nejlepších komerčních hollywoodských snímků všech dob.

Dvojice dospívajících chlapců, Pikelet a Loonie, vytvoří nepravděpodobné pouto se starším surfařem. Děj se odehrává v 70. letech minulého století ve fiktivním městečku Sawyer v západní Austrálii.

Surfařský král Steve Addington se právě vrátil ze surfování na těch nejúžasnějších plážích světa. Doma v Malibu ale zjištuje, že staré časy jsou ty tam. Jeho společník Jack Mayweather je v dluzích až po uši, obchodní partneři se náhle vypařili a Steve se tak ocitá zcela bez prostředků. Toho chce využít televizní producent Eddie Zarno, který Addingtona přemlouvá k účasti ve své reality show "Free Surfer" a používá k přesvědčování ne zrovna nejčistší metody. Addington však bezprecedentnímu nátlaku dlouho odmítá podlehnout.

Mladý agent FBI (Utah) v utajení inflitruje zlodějský gang, jehož členové si libují v extrémních sportech. Žijí s totálně uvolněným přístupem k životu . . i k zákonům. Ten jediný zákon, který jsou ochotni respektovat, je zemská gravitace. Skupina nezná žádné limity a právě daleko za hranicemi běžných omezení a pod vedením charismatického vůdce Bohdiho provádí nevídané a velmi propracované zločiny. Utah postupně získává informace i důvěru a sympatie Bohdiho a celého gangu. Zároveň ale začíná pochybovat o svých oficiálních povinnostech. Je čím dál více pohlcen opojným a nespoutaným životním stylem, kde je hlavním krédem svoboda a adrenalin. Bez ohledu na to, kolik pravidel se poruší a kolik lidí zemře.

V thrilleru Mělčiny se Nancy vydává osamoceně surfovat na odlehlé pláži. V průběhu surfování je napadena velkým bílým žralokem a zůstane uvězněna na moři nedaleko břehu. Ačkoliv ji od přežití dělí pouhých 200 metrů, jejich překonání se ukáže být otázkou souboje dvou vůlí.

Jízda se smrtí v zádech. Skupinka mladých surfařů se rozhodne okořenit si své jízdy trochou nebezpečí a vzrušení. Chtějí přilákat žraloky a projet se mezi nimi. Jejich zábavu však přeruší obrovský krokodýl, který se náhle objeví a požírá všechny, kdo se mu připletou do cesty. Podaří se někomu uniknout ze spárů jisté smrti?

Romantické drama Nesen větrem o vztahu surfařského šampióna a rockové zpěvačky osloví především mladší diváky. Snímek je protkán úchvatnými scénami, které odhalují surfařské umění i exotickou scenérii západní Austrálie, navíc se zde ve své první „dospělé“ roli objevuje Nicole Kidman. P. C. Simpson (Tom Burlinson) žije v nádherném domě na pláži se svým zámožným otcem a věnuje se hlavně své největší vášni – surfování. Jeho otec by jej sice mohl obviňovat, že nemá pořádnou práci, spíše však respektuje jeho umění zkrotit vlny. Jade (Nicole Kidman) je rocková zpěvačka, který se surfařem navazuje romantický vztah, a už když se zdá, že jeho životu k dokonalosti nic nechybí, dochází k několika událostem, které zcela mění situaci.
