B-Robo Kabutack is a Japanese television series and is the sixteenth series as part of Toei Company's Metal Hero Series of tokusatsu programs. It aired from February 23, 1997 to March 1, 1998. It is the first of the kiddie shows made by Toei in the Metal Hero Series line.

Godzilla Island was a television show spinoff of the Godzilla franchise. It premiered on October 6, 1997, and ran for a total of 256 three-minute episodes, finishing on September 30, 1998. The series was divided into 22 different stories (Sagas). Set in 2097, most monsters live on an island out in the Pacific Ocean. Night Man is an American action/adventure/sci-fi series that aired in syndication from September 15, 1997 to May 17, 1999. The series is loosely based on a comic book published by Malibu Comics and was created by Steve Englehart and developed for television by Glen A. Larson. It stars Matt McColm as the title character, a superhero whose real name was Johnny Domino, a saxophonist. Englehart would write three episodes of the series. Night Man is also one of the few series to cross over with characters from Larson's previous series: in the episode "Manimal", Johnny allies with Professor Jonathan Chase, the star of the short-lived 1980s' series Manimal.

Bolt Crank is an "explorer"--a mercenary who only accepts jobs that fits his moral standards. Even so, explorers like him are rarely trusted, and employment both in getting and also doing the job is hazardous. However, despite the fact Bolt says it's the only job he's any good at, he's also the best explorer around. Moreover, he has a unique ability. He's able to eat anything at all, and later can reproduce it wholly intact and functional! As an enigmatic man of few words, it's hard to understand someone who can do something so strange, and who despite it all, just wants to be normal.

Kabouter Plop is the eponymous protagonist in a children's television series by Studio 100. The television series is directed by Bart Van Leemputten. Most episodes last about five minutes and are set in Plop's milk inn or in Kabouter forest. The stories often involve pranks by naughty Kabouter Klus. Each episode starts with Plop lying in bed and reviewing what happened the past day. At the end of the episode he says he goes to "Kabouter dream land". Most episodes contain a moral.

The 36th NHK Taiga Drama is Mori Motonari. This series chronicles the life of Mori Motonari, a warlord of the early 1500s who stood at the vanguard of the Warring States era. All Japanese school textbooks contain the Mitsuya no kyokun, Mori's famous lesson to his three sons that teaches that while one arrow is easily broken, three arrows together cannot be broken. In 1997, 500 years after his birth, NHK dramatizes Motonari's rise from a chief of the region of Aki (now Hiroshima) to a daimyo who rules over ten provinces of the Chugoku region. Motonari was 64 years old and already the patriarch of a powerful dynasty about the time Oda Nobunaga and Takeda Shingen appeared on the scene. And even after his death, the Mori family figured prominently in Japanese history. His grandson Terumoto became a loyal Toyotomi vassal. Defeated at the Battle of Sekigahara, Ieyasu confiscated most of his lands, leaving him only with Suwo and Nagato, later known as Choshu. But 260 years later, the Mori got their ultimate revenge, leading the imperial forces against the Tokugawa in the Meiji Restoration.
