En hyggelig sightseeingtur op ad en af floderne i Australiens Kakadu Nationalpark bliver forvandlet til et mareridt for en håndfuld uskyldige turister og bådens kaptajn, den afslappede kaptajn Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell). Undervejs ser de rejsende et nødsignal fra længere oppe ad floden, og Kate føler sig forpligtet til at undersøge det nærmere. Det skulle hun dog aldrig have gjort (hvis hun bare havde vidst, hun var med i en gyserfilm!). Kate styrer båden og de intetanende turister ud af de normale sejlruter, og de kommer til en del af floden, hvor en gigantisk - og glubsk - krokodille hersker. Og den bryder sig ikke om, at fremmede trænger ind på dens territorium!

30'erne var en svær tid for Australiens originale folk, the aboriginals. Tre piger bortføres fra deres forældre. Det lykkes dem dog at undslippe, og dermed begynder den 300 kilometer lange tur hjem. Med mod og beslutsomhed tager Molly pigerne med ud på en næsten 2500 kilometer lang episk rejse gennem Australiens øde områder. Hvis blot de kan finde det "kanin-sikrede hegn", som deler kontinentet i to, vil de kunne følge det hele vejen tilbage til deres hjem.

Under forfærdelige omstændigheder strander en ung teenager og hendes lillebror i den australske vildmark. At nå frem til civilisationen skal vise sig at blive en næsten uoverkommelig prøvelse. Heldigvis møder de en aborigin dreng, som beslutter sig for at hjælpe dem.

På flugt fra fortiden er Catherine og Matthew flyttet til en lille by i vildmarken med deres to teenagebørn. Men flytningen gør ikke tingene bedre. Parrets søn vandrer rastløst rundt om natten, mens datteren byder sig til over for byens mænd. Kort før byen rammes af en stor sandstorm, opdager Catherine og Matthew, at deres børn er forsvundet. Supernova is a British comedy series produced by Hartswood Films and jointly commissioned by the BBC in the UK and UKTV in Australia. It follows Dr Paul Hamilton, a Welsh astronomer, who leaves a dull academic post and unloved girlfriend for a new job at the Royal Australian Observatory, deep in the Australian outback. The comedy centres around his difficulties adjusting to life in the outback and his eccentric fellow astronomers. The first series was released in the United Kingdom and Australia in October 2005 and consisted of six 30-minute episodes. The second series began airing on 3 August 2006 in the UK. The exterior scenes were shot at Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia. The observatory itself is a CGI creation, according to the DVD commentary, and only a partial doorway was constructed on site for filming purposes.
