Annie og Duncan har været et par gennem flere år, selvom de er meget forskellige. Hun arbejder på et museum, og han er lærer. De har ikke rigtig noget fælles længere, alligevel vælger de at rejse til USA, for at følge i Tucker Crowes fodspor. Det er mest Duncan, som er fan af Tucker Crowe og dyrker ham med stor lidenskab, og det selvom det er mange år siden han sidst har udgivet ny musik. Rejsen bliver på mange måder en øjenåbner, især for Annie, da det går op for hende hvor mange gode år hun har spildt på ingenting. Og da der pludselig kommer et nyt album, får Annie chancen for at vise sig fra en anden side. Når det drejer sig om Tucker, lever Duncan i en drømmeverden og har svært ved at skelne mellem virkelighed og drøm. Og da Annie og Duncan går hver til sit, udvikler historien sig i en helt uventet retning.

Fortunes of War 1987
Fortunes of War is a 1987 BBC miniseries adaptation of Olivia Manning's cycle of novels of the same name. English literature lecturer Guy Pringle and his wife Harriet navigate the early years of WWII in Bucharest. They become involved in anti-fascist politics and are forced to flee as the war escalates, crossing paths with various characters along the way. Starring an ensemble cast led by Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson, the seven-part series follows its source material relatively faithfully, with no major plot departures.
