Overfaldet forandrer alt for Emad og Rana, og deres relationer både til omverdenen og de to imellem, bliver udfordret dramatisk.

Den kvindelige journalist Rahimi rejser til den hellige iranske by Mashhad for at efterforske en seriemorder, som går målrettet efter byens sexarbejdere. Efterhånden som Rahimi kommer tættere på at afsløre morderens identitet, synes retfærdigheden sværere at opnå, da morderen stille og roligt har opbygget heltestatus i store dele af offentligheden.

Det får gruppens harmoni til at krakelere og åbner for en tankevækkende og usentimental undersøgelse af relationer, ikke mindst de ægteskabelige.

Jon Stewart smider sin sarkastiske, politiske kommentatorkåbe og springer ud som instruktør med dette drama, der er baseret på en sand historie. I 2009 blev den iranske journalist Maziar Bahari anholdt af de iranske myndigheder, anklaget for at være spion. Gennem fire måneder blev Bahari forhørt og tortureret, og det eneste han bagefter kunne sige om manden, der var ansvarlig for hans brutale oplevelser, var at han duftede af rosenvand. Hezar-Dastan was an Iranian epic historical drama television series from 1987, developed and directed by Ali Hatami. Hezar Dastan is considered one of the most important and most influential works of art in the history of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting. The production of the show took almost 8 years, starting in 1979 and ending in 1987, during which Hatami established a large set to represent Tehran in both Qajar dynasty and World War II, retroactively creating Iran's first movie studio and backlot (named Ghazali Cinema Town).
