Den unge, entusiastiske Yossi, der tager på eventyr med sin backpack på ryggen og hovedet fyldt af drømme. Han møder en guide, der vil tage ham og hans to venner med ud i Amazonas jungle – en af Yossis største drømme. Men guiden viser sig at dække over en mystisk fortid. Yossi bliver fanget alene i junglen, og rejsen udvikler sig til en skræmmende, psykologisk kamp om overlevelse, hvor naturen udfolder sig fra sin mest brutale side.

Under et byggeprojekt i udkanten af den brasilianske regnskov forsvinder entreprenøren Markhams 7-årige søn, Tommy. Ti år senere genfinder faderen ham. Det viser sig, at Tommy er blevet opfostret af en indianerstamme kaldet 'det usynlige folk'. Og til faderens overraskelse ønsker Tommy ikke at vende tilbage til civilisationen.

Inde midt i Amazonjunglen arbejder en excentrisk videnskabsmand på et projekt for et stort medicinalfirma. Han er nær ved at finde et helbredende middel mod kræft og beder firmaet om at sende yderligere assistance. Da en af assistenterne, der ankommer, er en kvindelig overordnet, der er sendt ud for at kontrollere ham, afslår han kategorisk hendes hjælp. Men hvor længe kan han opretholde den fornærmede facade?

Året er 2008 og verden er angrebet af en dødelig virus. Absolon er det eneste fremstillet stof, der kan udsætte det uundgåelige - døden! Medicinselskabet United Pharmaceutical, der står bag absolon, tjener en formue på folks vilje til at leve og da absolon er det eneste produkt på markedet.. Er prisen skyhøj. Betjenten Norman Scott sættes på sagen, da videnskabsmanden bag absolon bliver fundet død. Det viser sig, at videnskabsmanden havde fundet en helbredelig kur mod virussen, og at det eneste eksemplar der er tilbage, er havnet som sporstoffer i Normans krop. Nu er verdens befolkning i mere end en forstand afhængig af Norman og han bliver i mere end en forstand jagtet vildt af lejemordere?
