'Pixels' er en science-fiction komedie, hvor rumvæsner har misforstået gamle 8-bit spil fra 80erne som en krigserklæring, og angriber Jorden med figurer og elementer fra dem såsom Pac-Man og Tetris. Præsidenten Will Copeer indkalder sine gamle studiekammerater til hjælp, og det er nu op til de tre nørder, spillet af Adam Sandler, Josh Gad og Peter Dinklage, at redde verden.
