Με την ανάκτηση του Βασίλειου των Νάνων από τον δράκο Νοσφιστή, ο Μπίλμπο και οι δεκατρείς Νάνοι έχουν άθελά τους συμβάλλει στην εξάπλωση μιας φονικής δύναμης. Ο εξοργισμένος Νοσφιστής επιτίθεται στους ανυπεράσπιστους κατοίκους της Λιμνούπολης. Παράλληλα, κυριευμένος από το πάθος του για πλούτο, ο Θόριν Δρύασπις βάζει τον θησαυρό πάνω από την τιμή και τους φίλους του. Η φυλή των Νάνων, τα Ξωτικά και οι Άνθρωποι πρέπει να αποφασίσουν, είτε να ενώσουν τις δυνάμεις τους, είτε να καταστραφούν. Ο Μπίλμπο θα πρέπει να πολεμήσει τόσο για τη ζωή του, όσο και για των συντρόφων του, στην επική Μάχη των Πέντε Στρατών, καθώς το μέλλον της Μέσης Γης παραμένει αβέβαιο.

Ο πειρατής Τζακ Σπάροου και ο Γουίλ Τέρνερ αναζητούν το "Μαύρο Μαργαριτάρι", το καταραμένο πλοίο του πειρατή Μπαρμπαρόσα. Ο τελευταίος έχει απαγάγει την κόρη του πειρατή, την Έλιζαμπεθ, η οποία έχει μαζί της το μαγικό φυλακτό. Ο Μπαρμπαρόσα ελπίζει να απαλλαχθεί από μια κατάρα που τον έχει μετατρέψει σε νεκροζώντανο, προηγουμένως όμως απαιτείται η θυσία της Ελίζαμπεθ.

Δυο πιστολέρο, πρώην συνεταίροι, γίνονται αντίπαλοι. Η μοίρα θέλει να συνεργαστούν ξανά, όταν ένας ετοιμοθάνατος στρατιώτης τους εκμυστηρεύεται ότι σε κάποιο νεκροταφείο υπάρχουν θαμμένα σακιά με χρυσά νομίσματα. Όμως, τον θησαυρό αναζητά και ένας τρίτος άντρας.
