Η Μέι Λι είναι μια αδέξια 13άχρονη που εντελώς ξαφνικά μεταμορφώνεται σε γιγάντιο κόκκινο πάντα όποτε έχει έντονα συναισθήματα (σχεδόν ΠΑΝΤΑ). Η Μινγκ είναι η προστατευτική, έως αυταρχική, μητέρα της, που μπλέκει συνεχώς στα πόδια της κόρης της - ό,τι χειρότερο, δηλαδή, μπορεί να συμβεί σε μια έφηβη.

Μια τηλεπαρουσιάστρια αποσύρεται στην «Αποικία», μια απομονωμένη κλειστή κοινότητα ανθρώπων που ζουν στο δάσος, μετά από τη συνάντησή της με έναν κατ’ εξακολούθηση δολοφόνο. Σύντομα ο τρόμος θα χτυπήσει την πόρτα της κοινότητας, που μοιάζει να κρύβει ένα φρικτό μυστικό.
