Ο Τζων Ράμπο ένας πρώην βετεράνος του Βιετνάμ είναι βαρυποινίτης και δουλεύει σε καταναγκαστικά έργα. Ο Πολ Κρου, πρώην σταρ του ράγκμπι, συλλαμβάνεται μεθυσμένος και καταδικάζεται σε ποινή φυλάκισης στις σκληρές φυλακές Άλενβιλ.
