Μία οικογένεια από πρασινοκέφαλες πάπιες έχει βαλτώσει και ενώ ο μπαμπάς Μακ χαίρεται που έχει την οικογένεια του ασφαλή και κολλημένη για πάντα σε μία λίμνη της Νέας Αγγλίας, η μαμά Παμ λαχταράει να ταράξει τα νερά και να δείξει στα παιδιά της – τον έφηβο γιο Νταξ και τη μικρότερη κόρη Γκουέν- τον κόσμο ολόκληρο. Τα φοβισμένα παπάκια ζητάνε τη βοήθεια του Πενγκ για να επιστρέψουν στο σμήνος τους. Εκείνος αρνείται, αλλά ένας τραυματισμός στη φτερούγα του τον αναγκάζει να αλλάξει γνώμη. Οι τρεις τους θα ζήσουν μια μοναδική περιπέτεια, με εμπόδια και δυσκολίες που θα τους φέρει όμως πραγματικά κοντά. Ο Πενγκ αποδεικνύεται τελικά η καλύτερη πατρική φιγούρα που θα μπορούσαν να έχουν αυτά τα δύο ορφανά παπάκια!
