Μια θαρραλέα και στωική μητέρα (Fernanda Torres) πέντε παιδιών πασχίζει να κρατήσει ενωμένη την οικογένειά της, όταν ο πρώην βουλευτής συζυγός της (Selton Mello) συλλαμβάνεται από το δικτατορικό καθεστώς της χώρας και κατόπιν εξαφανίζεται.
