Το μέλλον της Marguerite, αριστούχας φοιτήτριας του τμήματος Μαθηματικών της περίφημης σχολής ENS, φαίνεται προδιαγεγραμμένο. Μοναδική κοπέλα στο τμήμα της, ολοκληρώνει τη διπλωματική της εργασία την οποία καλείται να υποστηρίξει ενώπιον της εξεταστικής επιτροπής.
