Το φάντασμα του καπετάνιου Ντάνιελ Γκρεγκ παρουσιάζεται μπροστά της προσπαθώντας να την αναγκάσει να αφήσει το σπίτι του. Η Λούσι αρνείται να φύγει και το θαρραλέο της πνεύμα γοητεύει το φάντασμα του καπετάνιου που της επιτρέπει να μείνει. Μεταξύ τους αναπτύσσεται μια παράξενη σχέση, η οποία διακόπτεται απότομα με την άφιξη στη ζωή της Λούσι ενός γοητευτικού άνδρα, ο οποίος σε αντίθεση με το φάντασμα του καπετάνιου, είναι ζωντανός

Δυνατή, δραματική ταινία γύρω από τα πάθη των ερωτευμένων ανθρώπων και τα (αιώνια;) προβλήματα των ανθρωπίνων σχέσεων. Η Σκηνοθεσία του Delbert Mann ήταν καταπληκτική αφού πέρα από τους χαρακτήρες, οι οποίοι εξελίσσονται, δίνει πλάνα τα οποία εντείνουν την αίσθηση της μοναξιάς που περικλείεται στους πρωταγωνιστές. H ταινία πρέπει να τονιστεί ότι είχε γνωρίσει μεγάλη απήχηση στην εποχή της. Είχε εφτά υποψηφιότητες για Όσκαρ από τις οποίες κέρδισε τις δύο.
Η σχολική χρονιά έχει φτάσει στο τέλος της και έχει έρθει η ώρα για τις καλοκαιρινές διακοπές.
