Η ζωή μέσα από τα μάτια μιας νέας οικιακής βοηθού μιας οικογένειας στη Ρόμα, γειτονιά μεσαίας τάξης στην Πόλη του Μεξικού, κατά τη διάρκεια της πολιτικής αναταραχής της δεκαετίας του 1970.

Οι ήρωες της ιστορίας είναι τρεις φοιτητές της σχολής μηχανικών του Imperial College of Engineering που είναι από τα καλύτερα κολέγια της Ινδίας και μοιράζονται το ίδιο δωμάτιο στην φοιτητική εστία. Οι 2 κατάγονται από φτωχές οικογένειες που στηρίζουν το κύρος της η μια και την ύπαρξή της η άλλη στην απόχτηση του πτυχίου από τους πρωτότοκους γιους τους. Ο τρίτος προέρχεται από πλούσια οικογένεια. Είναι 3 διαφορετικοί χαρακτήρες, οι 2 πρώτοι αγχώδεις και νευρωτικοί στενάζουν κάτω από το βάρος της ευθύνης ενώ ο τρίτος ο πλούσιος άνετος και με ανοιχτό μυαλό κάνει τα πάντα για την πραγματική γνώση και όχι την απόκτηση της πρωτιάς και του πτυχίου μέσα από τον στείρο παπαγαλισμό της ύλης. Ο δεύτερος τρόπος είναι αυτός που έχει υιοθετήσει και ο φοιτητής πρότυπο για τον διευθυντή της σχολής που τα παιδιά του έχουν δώσει το παρατσούκλι ViruS όπως ο υιός των υπολογιστών. Ποιος από τους 2 τρόπους είναι ο πιο αποδοτικός στην σχολή αλλά και αργότερα στην ζωή;

Ο 45χρονος Ζιάν, συνεταίρος σε μια εταιρεία κομπιούτερ στην Ταϊπέι, ο οποίος θέλει να κάνει νέο άνοιγμα με έναν Ιάπωνα επιχειρηματία, συναντά ύστερα από 20 χρόνια την πρώτη του αγαπημένη. Ο Κόνραντ που ήταν παρόν στο ατύχημα του αδελφού του, είναι συντετριμμένος από τις ενοχές και έχει τάσεις αυτοκτονίας. Η Μπεθ είχε αδυναμία στον πρωτότοκο της γιο και είναι ψυχρή και απόμακρη με τον Κόνραντ, ενώ ο Κάλβιν βρίσκεται ανάμεσά τους και προσπαθεί να κρατήσει τις ισορροπίες και να κρατήσει την οικογένεια ενωμένη.

Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? is a British sitcom which was broadcast between 9 January 1973 and 9 April 1974 on BBC1. It was the colour sequel to the mid-1960s hit The Likely Lads. It was created and written, as was its predecessor, by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. There were 26 television episodes over two series; and a subsequent 45-minute Christmas special was aired on 24 December 1974. The cast were reunited in 1975 for a BBC radio adaptation of series 1, transmitted on Radio 4 from July to October that year. In 1976, a feature film spin-off was made. Around the time of its release, however, Rodney Bewes and James Bolam fell out over a misunderstanding involving the press and have not spoken since. This long-suspected situation was finally confirmed by Bewes while promoting his autobiography in 2005. Unlike Bewes, Bolam is consistently reluctant to talk about the show, and has vetoed any attempt to revive his character.
