Η ταινία αφηγείται τη ζωή ενός τυφλού, απόστρατου αντισυνταγματάρχη, του Φρανκ Σλέιντ, του οποίου η ζωή αλλάζει ριζικά, όταν ένας νεαρός φοιτητής αναλαμβάνει να του κρατήσει συντροφιά κατά τη διάρκεια των Ευχαριστιών.
