See ebatavaline road movie, liigutavalt poeetiline perekonnalugu Pulitzeri preemiaga pärjatud näitekirjanikult Sam Shepardilt, jutustab loo Travisest (Harry Dean Stanton), mehest, kes on kadunud oma isiklikku põrgusse. Aastaid surnuks peetud Travis ilmub ühel heal päeval ääretust kõrbest, mäletamata midagi oma minevikust.
