Egiptusest leitud suur rõngas osutub lähemal uurimisel teleporteerimisväravaks, mis viib selle läbijad ühele galaktika teises otsas asuvale kõrbeplaneedile. Värava saladuse avastab keeleekspert Daniel Jackson (James Spader), kes läheb koos sõjaväe eliitmeeskonnaga läbi värava. Teisel pool leiavad nad kohalike asula, kus peetakse tulnukas Ra´d jumalaks.
