"Võlur Ozi" muinasloost pärit nõidade seni jutustamata loo keskmes on Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), oma rohelise naha tõttu vääriti mõistetud noor naine, kes on alles avastamas oma tõelisi võimeid. Maagilises Shizi ülikoolis viib saatus ta kokku auahne ja ärahellitatud Glindaga (Ariana Grande), kes on harjunud saama oma tahtmist igas olukorras.
