Tulevikus on aset leidnud katastroofiline sündmus nimeks The Quiet Rapture, mille käigus kadusid universumist seletamatult kõik tähed ja elukõlblikud planeedid. Inimkonna riismed jäävad ellu vaid vananevatel kosmoselaevadel ja jaamades, kus varud on lõppemas.
