Noor ja hakkaja poiss Luke Skywalker elab räpasel Tatooine planeedil oma onu ja tädi juures. Ta tahab minna Akadeemiasse ning saada Mässajate võitlejaks, kuid onu vajab teda viljakoristuse jaoks.
