A fisherman has a quarrel with his fiancé who, in rage, throws her ring into the sea. An old suitor notices her bare ring finger and senses a second chance. While on a fishing trip, he happens to catch the fish that seems to have swallowed the thrown-away ring. Peter, a theatre director, hates being out of work so much it's affecting his relationship with his girlfriend Marie, an actress.
