In 1801, the composer Weyse's cousin, the cheerful Henriette Frisch, advised her cousin to take in some student boarders in the house, so that he would not have to provide so much musical information, but could have more time to compose. The result, however, was that Weyse had to take on even more students to feed the boarders, and it was particularly bad with the gifted student Kramer, whose wealthy uncle would not send any more money.
Peter arrives in Helsingør to marry Bitten. He is accompanied by Kanusti, who is to be his best man. However, upon arrival, his mother-in-law's dislike of Peter is immediately apparent. When Peter later finds out that Bitten wants them to live three houses away from her mother, Peter does not show up for the wedding. However, thanks to Kanusti's intervention, Bitten and Peter are reunited.
The intention of the film is to give an impression of what small exotic Denmark looks like, what the strange Danes look like and how they are. Nearly 100 Danes are presented in the film, amongst them a racing cyclist, a Minister of Finance, a popular actor and 13 unmarried women from a provincial town. "There is too much fogginess and rain and melancholy in most of the pictures of Denmark," says Jørgen Leth. "But not in my film. I would like to show you some authentic, clear and beautiful pictures from this strange country."

He makes them eat like animals out of food trays, whips and rapes them, and trains them to put on a sex show for his perverted pals (which is how he made his fortune). When the women tire of his erotic abuse, they rise up and brutally murder him onstage to the roaring applause of the amazed audience! Reminiscent of the later BLOODSUCKING FREAKS, the women have all been driven mad by their enforced captivity, making them no better than their dear, departed master in the end.
