داستان فیلم در مورد اعضای بیکار خانواده‌ی بی‌پولی است که به یک خانواده‌ی ثروتمند تعدی می‌کنند اما در مخمصه می‌افتند.

داستان مردی که وارد یک مسابقه می‌شود، مسابقه‌ای که شرکت‌کننده‌هایش آزاد هستند به هرجای دنیا فرار کنند. فرار از دست آدمکش‌هایی که وظیفه کشتن‌شان را دارند.

داستان دو مرد جوان شیفته تئوری‌های توطئه که مدیرعامل شرکتی بزرگ را می‌ربایند و اعتقاد دارند او یک بیگانه است که قصد نابودی زمین را دارد.

گریس، که هم نویسنده است و هم مادری جوان، کم‌کم دارد عقلش را از دست می‌دهد. در خانه‌ای قدیمی در مونتانا حبس شده و رفتارهای او روز به روز آشفته‌تر و غیرقابل پیش‌بینی‌تر می‌شود و همراهش، جکسون را بیشتر نگران و درمانده می‌کند.

"اُ دای سو" مرد میان سالی است که در یک روز بارانی ربوده می‌شود و در مکانی به مدت ۱۵ سال زندانی می‌شود. پس از آزاد شدن تصمیم می‌گیرد که دلیل ربوده شدنش را کشف کند و از شخصی که این کار را کرده است انتقام بگیرد و... نام این فیلم در زبان فارسی به اشتباه "پیر پسر" و "پسر پیر" ترجمه شده که عنوان درست آن "رفیق قدیمی" و یا "همکلاسی قدیمی" است.

«لِستر» نزدیک به 14سال است که برای مجله‌ای مطلب می‌نویسد. او که از شرایط شغلی خود ناراضیست در زندگی زناشویی و خانوادگی خود نیز دچار مشکل می‌باشد و نمی‌تواند با همسر و دخترش ارتباط برقرار کند. درحالیکه «لِستر» انگیزه‌اش را کاملا از دست داده، به صورت اتفاقی با دیدن دختری نوجوان به نام «آنجلا»، به او علاقمند شده و انگیزه‌ای برای زندگی پیدا می‌کند.

این فیلم درباره‌ی فردی به اسم میکی می‌باشد که مشغول ماموریتی پایان‌ناپذیر در سیاره‌ای یخی است و هر بار که می‎‌میرد، نسخه‌ی دیگری از او زنده می‌شود

پاتريک بتمن يک جوان 26 ساله خوش قيافه، با هوش اما روانی و عاشق آدمکشی است. دلايل وی برای قتل عبارتند از حسادت بی پايان، عقده های روحی و مادی، تنفر و يا هيچ دليلی مگر جنون کامل. جنون او در طول اين فيلم افزايش می يابد و دست کم 20 نفر را بقتل می رساند از جمله همکاران، دوستانش و هر کسی ديگری که سر راه او قرار بگيرد يا اينکه مورد حسادت يا غضب او قرار بگيرد. تنها فردی که بنظر می رسد با او همدردی می کند منشی او جين است. در اکثر اوقات پاتريک نمی تواند بگويد که اين اتفاقات واقعی اند يا بخشی از يک لذت روانی هستند...

کوبریک این فیلم را بعد از تبعید خودخواسته به انگلستان، در سال 1971 می سازد. اما ساختار فیلم آنقدر بی پرده به بیان مفاهیم آن پرداخته بود، که ناگزیر مدتی فیلم توقیف بود(حدود 11 سال) تا شاید تمدن کمی جلوتر برود و مردم بزرگتر شوند و بتوانند چنین فیلمهایی را هم ببینند. نویسنده كتاب پرتقال كوكی (انتونی برگس) در زمان تالیف كتاب در مالزی زندگی میكرد. همسر او توسط چهار خلافكار امریكایی مضروب شده بود و این خود قسمتی از مضمون داستان او شد. در زبان مالزیایی كلمه "Orang" بمعنی مرد میباشد (همچنین این كلمه قسمتی از كلمه "Orangutan" كه نمیه دوم "Hutan" بمعنی جنگل می باشد بنابراین نام این فیلم بجای كلمه مسطلح clockwork fruit به جای clockwork man یا مرد كوكی نیز میباشد كه دقیقا آلكس در انتهای داستان به آن تبدیل میشود. نقد این فیلم كار اسانی نمیباشد. حتی بعد از نزدیک به چهل سال این فیلم هنوز به مشكلات جامعه اشاره میكند. تا به حال شاید هزاران صفحه مطلب در مورد این فیلم نوشته شده و واقعا توصیف این فیلم در چند جمله کار سختی است
