تن تن، به همراه سگش در بازار قدیمی شهر بروکسل، ماکت کوچک یک کشتی قدیمی قرن هفدهمی به نام یونیکورن (اسب شاخ‌دار) را می‌خرد که متعلق به سرفرانسیس است که به دنبال حمله دزدان دریایی به ریاست مرد خبیثی به نام «راکام سرخپوش» (با بازی دانیل کریگ) در دریا غرق شده و گنج گران قیمتی را با خود به قعر اقیانوس برده است. تن تن پی می‌برد که سرفرانسیس، سه ماکت مشابه ساخته و نقشه گنج غرق شده را در آنها جا سازی کرده و حالا مرد شیطان صفتی به نام ساخارین که از نوادگان «راکام سرخپوش» است به دنبال آن نقشه‌هاست. بقیه ماجرا، رقابت تن تن وهادوک با ساخارین برای دست یابی به ماکت سرفرانسیس است…
