امريکاي مرکزي. «سرگرد آلن شيفر» (شوارتسنگر) و تيم ورزيده ي سربازان منتخبش مأموريت مي يابند تا چند سرباز اسير ارتش امريکا را نجات دهند. در جنگل هاي انبوه، حادثه هاي عجيبي اتفاق مي افتد. موجودي نامرئي و ناشناخته، که از سياره اي ديگر به زمين آمده، افراد را يکي يکي شکار و سربه نيست مي کند.

لس آنجلس، سال 1997. «کارآگاه هریگان» (گلاور) و گروه ضربت ضد مواد مخدرش، در میانه‌ی زدوخورد شدید بین دارو دسته‌ی قاچاقچی‌های جاماییکایی و کلمبیایی گیر افتاده‌اند. هنگام درگیری با دارو دسته‌ی کلمبیایی‌ها، موجود مرموزی وارد صحنه می‌شود و قاچاقچی‌ها را قتل عام می‌کند. جاماییکایی‌ها با استفاده از این فرصت، به رئیس قاچاقچی‌های کلمبیایی حمله می‌کنند ولی آنان نیز به دست آن موجود نیمه نامرئی به قتل می‌رسند...
