کازینو ازیک سو به عنوان دنباله ای برای دوستان خوب (ساخته ی خود اسکورسیزی، 1990) محسوب می شود، ولی در واقع درطول سه ساعت، مالامال از عشق دیوانه وار به سینما وتمهیدان آن است. ـ دایتان: سرگذشت یک کازینو در لاس وگاس، چندوچون اداره ی آن و پشت پرده ی رابطه های گردانندگانش، به ویژه رابطه ی «اِیس» (دنیرو)، مدیر کاردان و موفق کازینو با دوست خشن و مهارناپذیرش، «نیکی» (پشی) و همسر ولنگار وغیرقابل اعتمادش، «جینجر» (استون)...

وقتی در دهه 1920 در سرزمین ملت سرخ پوست اوسیج در اوکلاهما نفت کشف می شود، مردم اوسیج یکی یکی کشته می شوند؛ تا اینکه اف بی آی وارد ماجرا می شود تا پرده از این معما بردارد.

وقتی دانیل پلانیو اطلاع پیدا می کند که در شهر کوچکی در غرب، دریایی از نفت در حال تراوش از زمین است، فوری دست پسرش را می گیرد و به آنجا می رود تا شانسش را در گرد و خاک بوستن امتحان کند. دنیل که از کودکی تجربه‌های بدی با زندگی و انسان‌ها داشته، رفته‌ رفته از نوع بشر تنفر پیدا کرده و قصد دارد با به دست آوردن ثروتی کلان زندگی‌ای ترتیب دهد تا دیگر به نوع بشر و تعامل با آن نیازی نداشته‌ باشد. با وجود این طرز فکر، او به پسرخوانده‌ای که دست تقدیر بر سر راهش قرار داده و دنیل ابتدا از او در جهت دروغ خانواده‌دار بودن و برای تسهیل مذاکرات تجاری‌اش استفاده می‌کند دل می‌بندد. این پسرخوانده ناسپاس از آب در می‌آید و دنیل در تجربهٔ دیگری با شخصی روبرو می‌شود که خود را به دروغ، برادر گمشده‌ای از او معرفی می‌کند. این بار هم دنیل به نوع بشر شانس دیگری می‌دهد و به این “برادر” دل می‌بندد. بعداً او متوجه این دروغ نیز می‌شود و وی را می‌کشد. هر تجربه بد او را خشن‌تر می‌کند تا جایی‌ که دیگر از رنجاندن فجیع ناسپاسان و کشتن ریاکارانی که به سراغش می‌آیند ابایی ندارد و فیلم پایان خونینی دارد…
