"نیکول کیدمن" و "تام کروز" بازیگر های اصلی آن هستند و در زمان ساخت فیلم هنوز طلاق نگرفته بودند. کوبریک تنها بعد از اولین روایت ویرایش فیلم مرد و از اونجایی که کوبریک مردیست که از تکرار و کار زیاد کار عالی می سازه ، تمام منتقدین اتفاق نظر دارند که قطعا او پیش ازمرگش تغییرات چشم گیری در فیلم میداد. اما با تمام این نقد ها فیلم بدون هیچ دستخوشی منتشر شد و نظر کمپانی برادارن وارنر این بود که به کار کوبریک نباید دست زد.
