A policeman falls for a teacher, and befriends her students. A gang of bootleggers threatens his newfound joys.

"When the door opened" Clive Grenfel sees his wife in another man's arms. A tussle ensues leading Clive to believe he has killed the other man, and he flees to the Northwoods. There he becomes acquainted with an old gentleman and his lovely granddaughter but keeps his distance because of his past. A stranger’s arrival proves a catalyst to the whole fraught situation.

Charley is plagued with failure and with his brother-in-law, who's allergic to labor. When he decides to take the family on a camping trip, his wife learns about a contest sponsored by a pen company, with the first prize being an ocean trip. To win the prize Charley has to sell those pens - surprisingly he wins, but the ship turns out to be a wreck on it's last trip to the scrapyard. To make things worse they accidentally leave their young daughter on the dock and the ship sails without her. What else can go wrong on this trip?

O'Day later discovers that she has returned the money to Granger, and he decides to reform. He goes to another town, where (now known as Good Deed O'Day) he meets an old friend, a wealthy rancher with whose sister, Mary, he is in love. Snowden takes a trip to Denver and returns with Nell, whom he has married.

Judge Foster throws his daughter out because she married a circus man. She leaves her baby girl with Professor McGargle before she dies. Years later Sally is a dancer with whom Peyton, a son of Judge Foster's friend, falls in love. When Sally is arrested McGargle proves her real parentage.

“Handy girl” at a local bakery Molly is sent to deliver a cake to a wealthy customer's home. Upon arriving, Molly learns that the household is hosting a party but has exactly thirteen guests—an unlucky number. To break the bad luck, Jack, the son of the house insists that his mother invite Molly to join the party as the fourteenth guest. This arrangement sparks jealousy in Flora, a wealthy girl who is in love with Jack. To sabotage her, the jealous rival takes Molly and dresses her in a ridiculous, unflattering outfit to embarrass her in front of the high-society crowd. Molly keeps her head and comes out a winner.

Robert Marshall’s dying utterance seems to point to Colman Colby (Robert Frazer) as his killer. Colby is arrested and at trial all testimony points to his guilt. But as the jury deliberates, the unfairly named “other woman” (Helen Lee Worthing) sets out to prove his innocence.

After her father, John Cavanagh, tricks White Elk into signing away the lands of his tribe, the young chief is condemned to be burned alive by Black Panther.

Once McKane has become a success, Judy marries him, but then he becomes interested in another woman. Judy seeks revenge and asks Gillespie to ruin her estranged husband, offering him anything he wants in return.

Bob Wilson, who becomes a tramp after being jilted by his fiancée, prevents the Limited Mail from being wrecked during a mountain storm and becomes fast friends with Jim Fowler, a railway mail clerk. Jim gets Bob a job on the railroad, and Bob works himself up to the position of engineer on the Limited. Both of the men fall in love with Caroline Dale, but she prefers Bob.
