Dani ja Christian ovat amerikkalainen nuoripari, jonka suhde on hajoamassa. Perhetragedia pitää heidät kuitenkin yhdessä, ja sureva Dani lähtee Christianin ja tämän ystävien kanssa ainutkertaiselle matkalle juhlimaan juhannusta syrjäiseen ruotsalaiseen kylään. Kaikki alkaa huolettomana kesäisenä lomamatkana maassa, jossa aurinko ei koskaan laske. Tositapahtumiin perustuva elokuva pohjautuu ruotsalaisen Mikael Lindnordin vuonna 2016 julkaistuun muistelmateokseen: Arthur - The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home.
