Elokuva kertoo Pariisissa asuvasta Rémy-nimisestä rotasta, joka haluaisi olla kokki. Rémy haluaa kokiksi vaikka hänen perheensä sitä vastustaa ja hän tietää, ettei ravintolamaailmassa rotta ole kovin toivottu vieras.
