Kaksi toisilleen vierasta ihmistä tapaa Tokiossa. Charlotte on Tokiossa kiireisen valokuvaajamiehensä Johnin kanssa. John ei osoita paljoakaan kiinnostusta vaimoaan kohtaan, ja Charlotte viettää suurimman osan ajastaan yksin hotellissa. Siellä hän tapaa näyttelijä Bob Harrisin, joka on Tokiossa tekemässä viskimainosta. Bob on tehnyt erityisen tuottoisan sopimuksen, mutta hän on uupunut ja kyllästynyt koko tilanteeseen – samoin kuin vaimoonsa. Vaimo soittaa Bobille Los Angelesista useita kertoja päivässä kuullakseen Bobin mielipiteen heidän talonsa sisustuksesta. Tyhjyyden tunne painostaa, mutta Charlotten ja Bobin välille syntyy yhtäkkinen yhteenkuuluvuuden tunne keskellä vierasta maailmaa. Yhdessä he tutustuvat Tokioon ja japanilaisten karaoke-mieltymykseen ja yllättäen he löytävät olemassaololle syvemmän merkityksen kuin ennen.

Doss haluaa auttaa isänmaatansa toisen maailmansodan syttyessä ja liittyy armeijaan, mutta uskonnollisesta vakaumuksestaan johtuen mies ei voi koskea aseeseen. Ultraman Leo is an Ultra foreign to the Land of Light, instead hailing from the fallen Planet L77 of the Leo constellation, where he and his brother Astra were royalty. After his planet was destroyed by Alien Magma and his twin Giras kaiju, Leo traveled to Earth, intending to make it a second home. While there, he blended into human society as Gen Ohtori, and became a gym instructor at a fitness club for children. But, when the Alien Magma that destroyed L77 came to conquer Earth, he was forced to take action. Leo met Ultraseven during his initial fight against Alien Magma, and became the first Ultra Crusader of Earth to not hail from the Land of Light. Unlike most of the previous Ultras to visit Earth, Leo's fighting style specializes in martial arts giving him far greater physical abilities than any other known Ultras. Despite his foreign origins, he, along with Astra, were readily accepted into the pantheon of the Ultra Brothers. During his tenure on Earth, Leo and Seven became very close, and it was for this reason that Seven would eventually entrust the training of his son Ultraman Zero to Leo and Astra.

Daimon Michiko is a 37-year-old freelance surgeon who is part of a questionable “doctor placement service” that has her wander from hospital to hospital. The harsh environment at the hospitals led many doctors to retire from their positions, forcing hospitals to make use of said program to fill the empty spots at least temporary. However, Michiko doesn’t look like a doctor at all with her flashy clothes and eccentric attitude. In the first episode she raises objections to a certain operation which is planned to be done by the head of a hospital who hasn’t performed an operation for a very long time. This causes Michiko to incur odium at the hospital, however, everyone becomes frozen when Michiko points out the outdated skills of the director. She also holds a scrupulous compliance when it comes to her working hours, never does any unnecessary chores that don’t require a medical license, and couldn’t care less about the power struggles within the hospitals. Nobody knows how she acquired such a top-level skill that allows her to claim exorbitant sums as reward, but her private life is an even greater mystery to everyone around her. Tanaka plays a rookie surgeon, Uchida an anesthetist, Kishibe the head of the placement service, and Ito the head of the surgical department of this institution.

Ultraman Gaia is a Japanese tokusatsu TV show and is the 13th show in the Ultra Series. Created by Chiaki J. Konaka and produced by Tsuburaya Productions and Mainichi Broadcasting System, Ultraman Gaia was aired on JNN TV stations from September 5, 1998 until August 28, 1999, with a total of 51 episodes.
