Disneyn loistava animaatioversio Edgar Rice Burroughsin tarinasta alkaa syvältä viidakosta, kun gorillat adoptoivat orvon ihmisvauva Tarzanin. Vaikka niiden johtaja vieroksuu häntä ”karvattomana ihmeenä”, gorillat hyväksyvät Tarzanin ja kasvattavat sen yhtenä omistaan.
