Spartak (K. Douglas) je legendarni vođa ustanka robova koji se dogodio 73. g. prije Krista. Spartak je podrijetlom Tračanin kojeg su 80. g. pr. Kr. zarobile rimske legije i zatim je prodan kao rob. Pobjegao je iz ropstva, ponovno pristupio tračkim četama, ali je uhvaćen te prodan kao gladijator u Capui, gdje je zbog hrabrosti, snage i iznimne spretnosti, dobio slobodu i 73. g. pr.
