Pétur kanína á í útistöðum við landeigandann herra McGregor, en honum er alveg meinilla við öll dýr, ekki síst kanínur sem vilja borða uppskeruna hans. Með Pétri í liði eru systur hans þrjár, Lúffa, Múffa og Bómullarhnoðri, ásamt frænda þeirra Benjamín og listakonunni Beu sem ólíkt McGregor er vinveitt dýrunum.

Thomas og Bea eru núna gift og búa með Pétri og kanínufjölskyldunni. Pétur, sem er orðinn leiður á lífinu í garðinum, ákveður að fara til borgarinnar þar sem hann kynnist skuggalegum karakterum. Það endar allt í mikilli ringulreið og fjölskyldan þarf að hætta öllu til að koma honum til bjargar. Nú þarf Peter að átta sig á því hverskonar kanína hann vill vera.

Með því að nota eingöngu mannúðlegar aðferðir sem breyta heimili þeirra í hálf-ferðarhús fyrir útrýmd meindýr, rekast þeir á ráðgátu sem varðar gráðugt grænmetisætuskrímsli sem ógnar að eyðileggja árlega grænmetisræktarkeppnina.

Hop segir frá Fred, atvinnulausum slugsara. Einn daginn þegar hann er annars hugar úti að keyra verður hann fyrir því óláni að keyra á og slasa páskakanínuna. Nú verður Fred að taka á honum stóra sínum og sjá til þess að Páskakanínan jafni sig til þess að koma í veg fyrir brostin hjörtu barna um allan heim. Fred áttar sig fljótt á því að það.

Eins og svo oft áður rekur löngun Bangsímons hann til að næla sér í dálítið hunang frá býflugunum sem eru alls ekki á því að láta það af hendi möglunarlaust. Bangsímon þarf því að flýja eins og fætur toga, ekki í fyrsta skipti og alls ekki það síðasta. Seinna misskilur Bangsímon bréf frá Robin og sannfærist um að honum hafi verið rænt af einhverjum sem kallar sig “Kembráðum Aftur”. Til að bjarga Robin safnar Bangsímon öllum vinum sínum saman og það er ákveðið að frelsa drenginn áður en það verður um seinan. Á meðan á Eyrnaslapi í hinni verstu krísu því hann vantar nýjan hala. Af þessum sökum er hann einstaklega niðurdreginn en samt til í að prófa hinar ýmsu gerðir af “skottum” sem félagar hans í skóginum mæla með. Og þetta er bara brot af þeim skemmtilegheitum og ævintýrum sem bíða kvikmyndahúsagesta, en óhætt er að fullyrða að hinir fullorðnu eigi eftir að skemmta sér jafn vel og yngri kynslóðirnar yfir uppátækjum Bangsímons og félaga.
