Að temja drekann sinn 2 gerist um fimm árum eftir að þeir Hiksti og Tannlaus sameinuðu víkingana og drekana svo úr varð órjúfanlegur vinskapur á milli þeirra. Í einum slíkum leiðangrinum finna þeir félagar íshelli þar sem hundruð villtra dreka eiga heima. En ævintýrið verður alvarlegt þegar nýr óvinur skýtur upp kollinum sem ógnar tilveru bæði dreka og manna.
