Í einum slíkum leiðangrinum finna þeir félagar íshelli þar sem hundruð villtra dreka eiga heima. En ævintýrið verður alvarlegt þegar nýr óvinur skýtur upp kollinum sem ógnar tilveru bæði dreka og manna. Til að vinna bug á hættunni þurfa þeir Hiksti og Tannlaus að standa saman sem aldrei fyrr enda er hinn nýi óvinur þeirra stórhættulegur.
