Sagan gerist um ári eftir atburðina í mynd númer tvö og Hiksti hefur ásamt sínu fólki unnið hörðum höndum við að skapa hinn fullkomna stað á Jörðu, borgríkið Berk, þar sem menn og drekar lifa saman í sátt og samlyndi. Hann gerði hins vegar ekki ráð fyrir komu hins öfluga Grimmels sem hótar honum og hans fólki öllu illu láti hann Tannlausa ekki af hendi. Það kemur að sjálfsögðu ekki til greina.
