Að temja drekann sinn 2 gerist um fimm árum eftir að þeir Hiksti og Tannlaus sameinuðu víkingana og drekana svo úr varð órjúfanlegur vinskapur á milli þeirra. Nú skemmta þau Ástríður, Hornasi og öll hin sér daglangt í drekakappflugi, nýjasta æðinu á litlu eyjunni Birkey þar sem víkingarnir eiga heima, á meðan Hiksti og Tannlaus hafa mest gaman af því að fljúga um ókunnar lendur og skoða ný svæði. Í einum slíkum leiðangrinum finna þeir félagar íshelli þar sem hundruð villtra dreka eiga heima.
