1879. Tra le colline e le alte vette rocciose della costa di Santander, Maria Sautuola, una bambina di nove anni, e suo padre Marcelino, un appassionato di archeologia, scoprono i più antichi dipinti preistorici mai rinvenuti prima raffiguranti una mandria di bisonti. Tuttavia, Conchita, la madre della piccola, è turbata dalla scoperta, al pari della Chiesa cattolica, che considera i graffiti come un attacco alla verità della Bibbia. Sorprendentemente, anche la comunità scientifica guidata dall'esperto Émile Cartailhac accusa Marcelino di frode. Tutto ciò fa crollare il mondo idilliaco in cui Maria ha sempre vissuto.

Sarà il compito di David, un ex agente dell'FBI , della sua ragazza Nicole , che inizialmente faceva la pubblicità del dessert e di un ragazzino Jason, che ha visto tutta la sua famiglia trasformata in zombie per colpa del dessert, fermarlo.

E i guai si fanno ancora più seri.
