In Le Cité, un quartiere periferico parigino, scoppia il vento della rivolta dopo il pestaggio del sedicenne Abdel Ichaha da parte della polizia. I giovani della banlieu scendono in strada e si battono tutta la notte con gli agenti. Tra loro ci sono tre amici: l'ebreo Vinz, il maghrebino Saïd e il nero Hubert Dia, un trio di sfigati, disoccupati, arrabbiati e senza futuro.
Chase e Andie sono due giovani che non potrebbero essere più diversi: lui ricco e viziato, lei con molti meno mezzi e molta più grinta. Unico elemento comune una passione sfrenata per il ballo. Due stili apparentemente inconciliabili che uniti da una storia d'amore travolgente creano una miscela esplosiva. Questa volta stare al passo sarà molto più dura.
La giovane Kelly fa la cameriera, ma sogna di diventare una star del ballo. Con tenacia e un po' di fortuna il sogno si realizza.

Due bande di ballerini _ i Beat Street Breakers e i Rokers _ si contendono il primato territoriale. In mezzo c'è un terzetto: due fratelli di colore e il bianco Ramon, artista dei graffiti. Break-dance, musica rap, graffiti murali, ovvero la cultura portoricana che s'innesta e cresce nel contesto urbano del South Bronx a New York. Il film, coprodotto da Harry Belafonte, conta per questo aspetto semidocumentaristico più che per la storia.
In una località imprecisata del Nord America, un gruppo di amici - capeggiati da Turbo e Ozone, scatenatissimi professionisti di breakdance - raberciano pittorescamente un vecchio palazzo cadente trasformandolo in centro ricreativo - prevalentemente per gente di colore come i due capi - che denomino "Miracles". Ma un industriale del luogo, per creare un moderno centro commerciale è determinato all'acquisto dell'intera zona, previa demolizione del fatiscente edifcio del "Miracles". Il Comune dà quindi lo sfratto a Turbo e Ozone, a meno che non acquistino essi stessi il terreno.
Rize, ovvero l'alba di una nuova avanguardia legata al mondo della danza. Il palcoscenico è South Central, conosciuto per essere uno dei quartieri duri della città degli angeli. Qui, nel 1992, Tommy "il clown" inventa un nuovo modo di animare le feste dei bambini in stile hip hop. Non pensa solo a farli divertire ma diventa anche, per molti di loro, un punto di riferimento per tenerli fuori dalle gang. L'attrazione alternativa è un nuovo modo di ballare, lontano dalla break dance, fatto di frenetici movimenti e di volti truccati da pagliacci.

Graffiti Rock was a hip-hop based television program, originally screened June 29, 1984. Intended as an on-going series, the show only received one pilot episode and aired on WPIX channel 11 in New York City and 88 markets around the country, to good Nielsen ratings. Graffiti Rock resembled a hip hop version of the popular television dance shows at the time such as Soul Train and American Bandstand. The show was created and hosted by Michael Holman, who was the manager of the popular break-dancing crew, the New York City Breakers. The episode features Run D.M.C., Shannon, The New York City Breakers, DJ Jimmie Jazz and Kool Moe Dee and Special K of the Treacherous Three. The New York City Breakers, who were fresh off of their success from the movie, Beat Street, made a showcase appearance. The episode also features television and film actress, Debi Mazar and actor/director Vincent Gallo as dancers on the show. A segment of the show was sampled on The Beastie Boys' LP Ill Communication. "[...] alright, you're scratchin it right now, cut the record back and forth against the needle, back and forth, back and forth, make it scratch, but let me tell you something don't try this at home on your dad's stereo only under hiphop supervision, alright ?" The show has since become an important 'must-see' for hip-hop enthusiasts, alongside such titles as Wild Style and Beat Street.
Red Bull BC One is the world's largest breakdancing competition. Every year, thousands of dancers compete for a spot in the world finals. The world's 16 best B-boys and B-girls will compete in breakdancing battles for the Red Bull BC One World Champion belt. B-Boying/B-Girling, or breakdancing as it is used in the media, is a dance style that originated on the streets of New York in the 1970s. It is one of the four pillars of hip-hop culture, along with DJing, MCing, and graffiti. Over time, the breakdancing scene has grown, with active communities spanning the globe. Each year, dancers and crews push the boundaries of breakdancing, shaping an art form unlike any other.
The street dance 'breaking', which originated in the 1970s, is becoming an Olympic sport for the first time. The Dutch breakers are among the top in the world. Can they qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris? And can breaking maintain its bravado in the strictly defined world of top sport?
