In un futuro prossimo una gioventù totalmente disillusa si costruisce una realtà alternativa: un guerriero virtuale e illegale di nome Avalon, con riferimento all'isola leggendaria in cui riposano le anime degli eroi. I partecipanti al gioco ne diventano dipendenti al punto da ritrovarsi decerebrati come fossero vittime di una droga. Chi cede viene definito 'non-ritornato'. Ash è una ragazza che si guadagna da vivere passando in continuazione dal mondo reale a quello virtuale di Avalon. Un giorno scopre che un esperto del gioco, Murphy, è finito tra i 'non-ritornati' perché aveva cercato di entrare in un'area proibita del gioco.

God created nine races in the ancient times. Humans were the weakest, most ridiculed race among them. Light, a human boy, was fortunate enough to be invited to join a party of all nine races called the "Assembly of the Races." He was happy being a member for a while, but that was a short dream. His hopes were only to be betrayed by his fellow members at the largest, most heinous dungeon "Abyss." After surviving by himself at the bottom of Abyss, Light learns the true meaning of his gift "Unlimited Gacha." Light will rise from the worst despair to build his own empire of the strongest players.

Three teens join forces to find a way home after waking up in a strange realm filled with magic portals, perplexing puzzles and vicious beasts.
