Un gruppo di ragazzi, per gioco, scarica sul cellulare una nuova applicazione che permette di prevedere esattamente la propria data di morte. A turno i ragazzi scoprono che la app "Countdown" non lascia scampo ed è impossibile da disinstallare. Con il passare delle ore e la fine che si avvicina, ognuno di loro dovrà trovare un modo per salvarsi prima che scada il tempo.
